- -½ + ¼ cup (120g) granulated sugar, packed
- -6 tbsp (80g) dark brown sugar
- -1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, room temp
- -2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- -2 ¼ cups (281g) all-purpose flour
- -1 tsp baking soda
- -½ tsp salt
- -1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus more for in between the two layers and topping)
Directions
- Step 1
- Cookie Dough: Prepare the cookie layer: Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Combine melted butter, brown and granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth and fluffy for about 2-3 min. Add dry ingredients and chocolate chips. Mix until just combined. Chill the dough in the fridge/freezer

- Assemble and Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment
- Step 3

Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips, if desired then add the rest of the dough and press it so it makes an even layer and sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips. Bake 25-30 minutes, until edges are lightly browned and a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Don’t overbake.
- Step 4
- -Let the cookie dough cool for 1 hour. Lift out with parchment and slice into squares.
